Histoire d’une illustration : Derrière notre carte Soleil & Lune

The Story Behind an Illustration: Behind Our Sun & Moon Card

Because Liligraffiti is, above all, me—Marie-Laure—and sometimes, I let inspiration guide me beyond the usual "Lili style". That’s exactly what happened with my Sun & Moon illustration—a delicate blend of childhood’s naïve drawings and a certain perspective on esotericism and mysticism.

At first glance, it’s a simple scene: birds in flight, a sun, a moon, and colorful hills. But take a moment to observe it. There’s something that emerges — an equilibrium between shapes and colors, a mix of naivety and structure that draws the eye.

The birds cross the image as if carrying a message—or rather, leaving each person free to see what they want. Doves are often associated with freedom, momentum, movement, and peace. A symbol of hope.

Perhaps that’s also what guided me in creating this piece.

The colors are soft and simple: pale pink and brown, golden yellow for the central elements, and a few touches of green, red, and violet here and there.

And then, there’s the frame. Well-defined, structured. It gives the illustration the feel of a painting, a finished object that exists beyond the simple format of a card. It could be hung, framed, or placed somewhere just for the pleasure of looking at it. This frame also ties the illustration to the rest of the collection, creating unity and coherence without confining it.

I loved this illustration so much that I wanted to expand it. As sticky notes or as bookmarks, it becomes part of daily life—discreet yet present.

Slipped into a book, placed on a desk, it becomes a small touch of visual poetry, a colorful detail that subtly shifts the atmosphere.

It’s not just a card. It’s a mini-story, a mood, a frozen moment that continues to tell something—even when you’re not looking at it.

It’s more than a card; it’s a visual journey.
