Notre projet secret dévoilé: Illustration d'une couverture de roman

A secret project unveiled: My cover for a novel.

Behind the scenes of an other aspect of my job!

As much as I love creating new designs for my own personal brand, I get really excited whenever something new comes up. Personalized illustrations like « Draw me » and « Draw my house » have been amazing to let my creativity express in other ways. It may seem strange but I love working with constraints and guidelines: it unleashes my imagination!
A few months ago, an editor from the Au carré publishing house reached to me to offer me a contract to imagine the cover of an upcoming novel. I was very enthusiastic to take up this new challenge!
The creative process was a lot different than everything I’ve ever knew. First of all, I had to get acquainted with the general ambient of the book, the tone, the writing, the characters, the setting. I was lucky enough to read - before anyone else!- the first chapters of the novel, which I LOVED!
I realized by reading these pages why the publisher thought of me to draw the cover: my universe and the author’s are very much alike! It seemed like a match made in heaven.
I imagined 2 different versions of the cover: The first one was a lavender field, with a bicycle and the protagonist, Rose, sitting next to it. The second one…you can see it just above this text :)
I can’t wait for you to discover this touching novel, that I read without putting it down during the summer.
